01The role

What is a fractional CMO?

An open-plan studio seen through a glass wall

A fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader who works with your company part-time, usually on a monthly basis, instead of a full-time hire. They set the marketing strategy, lead the work and answer to the founders or the CEO.

At Paxton Studio, the same person also carries the strategy into the work. Marina sets the direction, then builds what it calls for, or brings in specialists she vouches for. You get one line from the first decision to the last detail, and one person to talk to.

02The moment

When does a company need a fractional CMO?

Usually when marketing matters too much to run on the side, and a full-time CMO would come too early or take too long to hire.

You want the strategy and the system in place first, so a future hire walks into something that works.

FAQ

Fractional CMO questions, straight answers.

Most of our engagements run from one to five years. The first months move fastest, then it’s steady progress, week after week.

There are no set days or hours to book. Marina works remotely and mostly async, handles priorities as they land, and replies fast. The rhythm adjusts to what the work needs that week.

A service agreement with Paxton Studio, billed monthly. No employment contract, no recruitment fees, and the scope can grow or shrink as priorities move.

Both. Marina sets the strategy and builds what it calls for: website, tracking, campaigns, CRM and content. When execution needs more hands, she brings in specialists she vouches for.

Yes. We join your tools, your rituals and your partners, and keep everyone on the same line.

Mostly healthcare, B2B SaaS and fintech, and also HR tech, legal tech, real estate and retail. The method stays the same. We learn the rest fast.

It depends on what you need. Most clients commit to a set number of hours each month, and the hourly rate goes down as the volume goes up. Extra hours are billed at a rate agreed upfront. A fixed monthly fee is also possible. Engagements usually start at 10 hours a month, and you get a written proposal with the numbers before anything starts.

Marina sets the strategy and leads the work herself. When execution needs specialist hands, she brings in people she has worked with and vouches for. You keep one point of contact and one line.

We take on a small number of clients, on purpose, so each one gets real bandwidth and fast replies.

Nothing is locked: files, accounts, code and data are yours from day one. The scope adjusts as your priorities move, as set in the contract.
